0 Nurse Who Treated Dallas Ebola Patient Tests Positive for Ebola (www.ferrarisimmons.com)
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta has come under scrutiny for pointing the finger of blame at a nurse who contracted the deadly Ebola virus while caring for an Ebola patent in Dallas.
The nurse, who treated Thomas Eric Duncan in the isolation unit at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, is the 2nd person to be diagnosed with Ebola on U.S. soil. Duncan, who was the first person diagnosed in the U.S., died on Oct. 8.
“We don’t know what occurred in the care of the index patient, the original patient in Dallas,” said Frieden on Sunday morning, “but at some point, there was a breach in protocol, and that breach in protocol resulted in this infection.”
“Unfortunately it is possible in the coming days that we will see additional cases of Ebola,” Frieden said during a press conference. “Because the health care workers who cared for [Duncan] may have had a breach of the same nature of the [nurse] who appears now to have a preliminary positive test.”
The CDC’s preemptive finger pointing at the health care worker is raising concern among doctors and nurses, who say health care workers are not properly trained to treat patients with Ebola.
“The comments from CDC early on that [treating Ebola patients] could be done in any hospital that is used to doing isolation just doesn’t ring true to me,” said ABC News chief health and medical editor Dr. Richard Besser.
“Groups like Doctors Without Borders, they have incredible training in this, and they practice it, and it’s the practicing that ensures that you don’t have a slip-up,” he said. “For our first patient in America to lead already to a health care worker getting sick really raises a concern to me.”
“To do it safely, health care workers need to train and practice using protective equipment,” he said. “I would never have gone into an Ebola ward in Africa without being dressed and decontaminated by experts — health care workers here should expect no less.

0 Texas Ebola Patient Dies (www.ferrarisimmons.com)
Thomas Eric Duncan, the Liberian Ebola patient who the first case of Ebola diagnosed on U.S. soil, has died.
“He fought courageously in this battle,” the hospital said in a statement.” Our professionals, the doctors and nurses in the unit, as well as the entire Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas community, are also grieving his passing. We have offered the family our support and condolences at this difficult time.”
Duncan’s condition was downgraded to critical as his internal organs began to fail over the weekend. Doctors gave Duncan antiviral medication via IV about a week after he was admitted to Texas Presbyterian hospital on Sept. 28.
Duncan was discharged from the same hospital on Sept. 24 when he arrived in the ER with a low grade fever.
The news of Duncan’s death comes after word that an American doctor who survived Ebola donated his antibody-rich blood to a NBC cameraman this week. Your thoughts?

0 Kanye West, Kobe Bryant Play Basketball Together
Kanye West and Kobe Bryant were photographed together at Open Gym Premier in Anaheim, California. The Instagram post from Tuesday (September 30) does not say when it was taken, though it implies the photo was taken recently.
“Front row seats all summer long. Excited to see the Black Mamba return to the hardwood,”the post from Open Guy Premier’s Instagram account says.
Kanye is no stranger to basketball. Last month, Ye was seen getting some hoop action while in Perth, Australia before embarking on his string of shows down under.
Black Mamba is expected to be playing his nineteenth season with the Lakers and has reportedly been training vigorously to do so. Although there has been no mention of a Kanye and Kobe music collaboration, the five-time NBA champion has rapped before, including his 1999 single “K.O.B.E.”
0 Michael Dunn Found Guilty of 1st Degree Murder in ‘Loud Music’ Retrial (www.ferrarisimmons.com)
Convicted killer Michael Dunn was found guilty of 1st degree murder in the shooting death of 17-year-old Jordan Davis during a retrial in a Florida courtroom today.
Dunn was found guilty of 4 out of 5 counts against him in the first trial in February. But that jury could not agree on the most serious charge — first degree murder.
The 12-member jury for Dunn’s retrial deliberated just 4.5 hours before finding him guilty of first degree murder.
The new jury was made up of seven white men, three white women, a black man and a black woman.
After shooting Davis in an SUV outside a convenience store in Jacksonville in 2012, Dunn and his wife returned to their hotel room where he ordered pizza and they drank cocktails.
Dunn said he didn’t call 911 right away because his wife was hysterical and she needed to rest.
Dunn told investigators he drove back home to Satellite Beach because he wanted to talk to a more familiar face on the police department there rather than face law enforcement in Jacksonville.
Dunn faces at least 60 years in prison. He is awaiting sentencing.

0 Sneaker of the Day: The Air Jordan 11 “Pantone” (pics)
My sources are telling me they are going to be a general release so don’t get too crazy trying to spend $600+ on these! There should be approx 200,000 pairs being released!
Much like past release that leaked early, they always seem to find there way to releasing, which in this case would make this Holiday be something special. The potential Air Jordan 11 “Pantone” that would release is a bit different than the actual sample pairs from a few years ago. Again, we have no confirmation from Jordan Brand directly, but we do have photos of the Air Jordan 11 “Pantone” that has been floating around these past couple days.
As a side note, Usher did receive a pair of these exclusively from Tinker Hatfield for his birthday. So what do you think, should or shouldn’t Jordan Brand release the “Pantone” Air Jordan 11 this Holiday 2014? Sound off in the comment section below and stay tuned….

0 Gucci Mane Sentenced To 3 Additional Years In Prison
Gucci Mane was sentenced to three additional years of incarceration for hitting a man with a bottle.
Gucci Mane pleaded guilty to assault yesterday (September 15).
The rapper was sentenced to three years in prison for assaulting an Army staff sergeant with bottle in a nightclub on March 16, 2013. The sergeant reportedly walked up to Gucci Mane’s VIP area and was looking to take a picture with the rapper before being hit with the bottle.
District Attorney Paul Howard spoke on the matter, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“Rather than accommodating the admiring fan, Davis, for no explicable reason, instead, hit the victim over the head with a vodka bottle and then hurriedly left the club,” District Attorney Howard said. “The victim sustained a deep laceration to his forehead which required 10 stitches.”
The AJC report says it’s unclear if Gucci will get credit for time served.
Mane was also convicted of battery in 2011 and assault in 2005, the AJC explains. In ’05, Mane was also charged with murder following a shooting of a Macon rapper that allegedly attacked him, but the charges were dropped. In 2008, Gucci was charged with battery in Henry County, also. However, victims were unwilling to testify, according to the AJC
